Everyone has had some sort of stress, anxiety, or worry within their life! Stress is a natural occurrence in life and you have to accept that at one point in time or another, you will be stressed. We have experienced stress, anxiety, and worry a countless number of times. We both have learned how to better manage our stress and each one of us have different methods that we use in order to get our mind and energy back where it needs to be. Managing stress is difficult to do but if you are looking to better yourself as a person and engage in a healthy lifestyle, stress management is definitely something that you should be practicing daily! We both feel that mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health is vital to living a happy and healthy life. We have compiled a list of 10 stress management tips that you could possibly use daily to help you ease your stress, anxiety, and/or worry! Please remember that what works for us may not work for you but we recommend trying at least three of these tips just to see if they are of some benefit for you personally!

Hannah & Alexis' 10 Tips For Managing Stress

1. Organize: Big tasks can be overwhelming, break things down into small manageable tasks. Whether it’s cleaning, errands, projects or work an organized space and schedule keeps things stress free!

"My recommendation: use planners! Create a schedule for monthly maintenance like cleaning or activities that works for your life and stick to it. "- Hannah

2. Breathe: No matter how busy you are, you can spare 10 deep breaths where you only focus on clearing your mind and lowering your heart rate so you can take on whatever you have to do! Seems small, but it works wonders when you’re stressed. Just breathe, you’re doing great.

3. Treat yo self: Donna from Parks and Rec said it best! Whether it’s something small like watching your favorite show with some snacks or bigger like buying that pair of shoes you want or going out with friends reward yourself for a job well done to stay motivated and sane!

4. Be honest about your “why”: Too often we say yes to everything and ignore what’s best for us. When you’re stressed and overwhelmed remember why you’re doing something and what gets you excited. If it doesn’t, ask yourself if you really need to do that thing. Remember: just because you can doesn’t mean you should!

5. Unplug: Stress, tasks, and the seemingly unconquerable world will still be there if you take some time for yourself and you’ll probably be more equipped to handle it. You’re not weak if you need some time for yourself! You’re not a better person if you’re super busy, so silence your phone for a bit and work on you when you can. It’ll help you get things done without the pressure of others or the distraction of everyday demands.

6. Practice your faith/meditate: If you practice a certain faith, make sure that you take the time to get reconnected to that faith. Usually whenever we begin to stress and worry, its because spiritually we are disconnected in some way. For those that practice a faith; praying or worshipping is a great way to regain your thoughts. If you don't practice a faith, meditating will do you good! Having time to be silent and regain positive thinking will help to calm your stress, anxiety, and worry!

7. Prioritize: THIS IS A MAJOR KEY! Prioritizing can really help you manage daily tasks better and get things done efficiently. Taking things day by day and prioritizing tasks by urgency could really alleviate some of the stress and anxiety you may be feeling. Focus on your day without worry of what needs to be done the next day, next week, or next month.

8. Journaling: Don't knock it until you try it! Journaling can be extremely therapeutic and simple. Writing down your thoughts and feelings could help calm down your nerves and make you more aware of the issues you may be facing on a daily. Journaling allows you to freely express yourself without judgement from others and provides you with a way to vent if you don't feel comfortable talking to a friend or family member!

9. Be Vulnerable: No one likes to feel weak and show their true emotions to others but sometimes you have to do that in order to emotionally feel better and relieve some stress. Talking to a friend or family member that you trust allows them to help you in the best way that they can. No one knows how to help you until you tell them what the problem is, right?? I know it sucks but desperate times call for desperate measures. If you find yourself drowning in stress, anxiety, and/or worry, talk to someone about it!

"My recommendation is to talk with a someone that you have a close relationship with. This person could be a spouse, family member, friend, mentor, or therapist!"- Alexis

10. Self Pep Talks: Seriously, pep talks?? YES! Pep talks are so vital to give yourself when you are feeling stressed or down on yourself. In times of stress, most people tend to feel like the world is going to end because of the situation that they are going through. Reminding yourself of how far you've came in life is a great start to a pep talk. Saying positive words about yourself will uplift you, change your mindset, and promote self-love! Be kind to yourself and remember that you're not cocky, just confident!

We hope that in times of stress, anxiety, and/ or worry you remember these 10 easy tips! Managing your stress isn't hard. It's all about you accepting that stress for what it is and not letting it control you! Instead, think positively about every situation that you go through and let go of things that you absolutely can not control! YOU HAVE THE POWER OVER YOUR OWN THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. Don't let stress have power over you!!!
